1940 Sq Ft – Completed 2012

This modest green home was designed as a tempered passive solar home.  This means that The square foot total of windows on the south elevation was under 7% of the overall floor area.  The long elevation was oriented to true south to optimize passive solar gain during the winter and shading of the windows with the roof overhang.  Superior Walls with R-12.5 (with added formaldehyde-free fiberglass insulation) were used for the exterior walls of the finished basement space.  A highly efficient wood burning fireplace, was installed as was a 2 zone SEER 15 heat pump with a 6” media filter.  Floor were either wood, decorative concrete, or tile for longevity, and indoor air considerations.
